The Peace Officers Shrine Club
received its Charter in 1962 from Potentate, Illustrious Lloyd M. Mitchell.
The current membership is over 60 members, and has a long history of service to
the Shrine.
Regular membership consists of active, reserve and
retired Law Enforcement Officers, Firefighters, and other
public service officers from city, county, state, and federal agencies.
Associate membership are those Shriners
who are interested in the field but have no regular affiliation with public
service.
The Club participates in all Al Bahr Shrine functions
and parades where they proudly display their two antique public
service vehicles: a 1926 Studebaker Police Paddy wagon, which served the City of
San Diego and a 1936 Seagraves Fire
Engine, which was originally assigned to Station 22 of the San Diego Fire
Department. These vehicles and a mini
police car used to entertain the public in parades and Shrine activities.
Normally on the fourth Wednesday of
each month in the Peace Officers Shed behind the Shrine Center.
Social at 5:30pm and meeting at 7:00pm.
