Better known as the "old Breed"
the Patrol was originally chartered in 1912 and re-chartered in 1961 with the
approval of
Potentate Richard Quiggle. The first President was Les Harrington and the
first Captain was a former
Marine Corps Major, Homer Lovell. At that time we met in the Electric
Building in Balboa Park. It was a
once-a-week drill meeting and anyone missing two meetings was automatically
dismissed from the Unit. Needless to say,
this rule is no longer enforced. The Patrol is the
Potentate's Honor Guard. At stated meetings we form up to
salute the Potentate, Divan and special guests as they are introduced. The
Patrolmen are easily distinguished by the red
bolero jackets, which are part of the formal uniform.
The Patrol also participates in parades. Some will march with with the
Legion of Honor as needed and others will ride on various floats.
The Patrol is a friendly unit and we are always looking
for new members.
Please call the President for time and location.
