The North County Shrine Club is
an integral and important part of Al Bahr Shrine and has increasingly become
more involved
with fund-raising activities such as the Shriner's Hospital Transportation Fund.
The Club was founded when Shriners living in the Ocean Hills area of Oceanside
decided to meet for luncheon once a month.
They named the club Ocean Hills Shrine Club. A Charter from Al Bahr Shrine
in San Diego was dated October 18, 1987,
and granted on January 8, 1988.
As membership increased with Shriners from all areas of North San Diego County,
members voted on October 18, 2000, to change
the name to North County Shrine Club. Following the name change and a
strong publicity program, membership increased dramatically.
The San Marcos Shrine Luncheon Club recently joined forces with North County
Shrine Club, making the latter the largest
Shrine Club in North County.
