The
Greeters Unit was inspired by its first president, William Scroggs, Sr. It
was organized in 1943 with the
approval of Potentate Harry M. Dort. The Greeters are
the Temple's official reception committee. Prior to all
Temple Stated Meetings, the uniformed Greeters are posted at all entrances to
welcome all Nobles, ladies
and visitors. As a Unit, Greeters participate in all
parades, either riding in their open-sided bus or walking along
side waving and saying "Hi" to everyone. Fund raisers, such as the annual
breakfast, enable the Greeters to
make contributions throughout the year to the Al Bahr General Fund and others.
The Greeter Creed, written by the late 1949 Past President, Dave Bell, best
describes this active unit.
Give a glad hand in your greeting
Remember good cheer is our goal
Endeavor to show in your welcome
Each Shriner is a warm hearted soul
Tolerant, friendly and helpful
Each Noble who hews to the line
Reflects in his words and his actions
Sincere respect for Al Bahr Shrine.
